13.000 diplomas and we are far from done!

Sometimes a future begins with a new school building. Sometimes with a few notebooks and pens. Sometimes with a bus. The result is the same: a child who goes to school, learns, and earns their diploma.

13,000 Nepalese children obtained their school diplomas with the support of Stichting Nepal. Behind that number are dozens of projects, spread across years and regions. They have nothing in common except one thing: they make education possible for children who would otherwise have no access to it. Here is a glimpse of what is involved.

- Building schools. In remote areas where the government barely reaches, the foundation built schools from the ground up.

- Rebuilding after earthquakes. After an earthquake in western Nepal in 2023, dozens of collapsed schools were repaired or rebuilt.

- 100% girls in school. Targeted projects to keep girls in school, every week of the month. Every week of the year. From education to separate sanitary facilities.

- A school bus. If the school is hours' walk away, accessibility starts with transport.

- School for deaf children. A special school with a hostel, so that children with hearing impairments can also receive a good education.

- Wheelchair ramp. A school is only truly accessible when everyone can enter, including children with physical disabilities.

- Sanitary facilities. Clean toilets at schools sound simple, but for girls, it is often the difference between showing up or not.

- Direct sponsorship. School fees, books, uniforms, winter coats, and sometimes an individual scholarship is all a child needs.

All these projects are independent of one another. But they also have something big in common: giving children in Nepal a fair chance at education. A goal that Stichting Nepal has been pursuing since 1992. “Education in Nepal is rarely a single problem with a single solution. It is a combination of barriers – financial, geographical, cultural, physical. Stichting Nepal tackles all those barriers at once.”

And the work continues. Currently, thousands of children in Nepal are pursuing their school education, thanks in part to projects by the foundation. The next diploma is already on its way.
