Children Cancer Centre
The Children Cancer Center was founded by the local organisation Warming Hearts. The founder, Anamika, has dedicated herself heart and soul to children with cancer for years.
During her work, she repeatedly saw the same harrowing problem: underprivileged families coming to Kathmandu with their sick child for treatment, but having nowhere to stay.
A hotel or rental room is simply unaffordable for these families.
The result is heartbreaking. Families are often forced to leave Kathmandu even before treatment is completed. Follow-up treatments are delayed, children become sicker, and in many cases, this leads to death. Not because treatment is impossible, but because accommodation is impossible. This had to change, Anamika thought.
With support from Stichting Nepal and other donors, she founded the Children Cancer Centre: a safe place where families can stay free of charge during their child's treatments. Food is also provided free of charge. The parents take care of cleaning, laundry, maintenance, and cooking together, thus supporting each other during an extremely difficult period. The facilities are basic. Each family has a small room and there are shared toilets. There is no clean running water, only a small playground for the children, and no communal space to eat together or relax. Moreover, the building is not yet fully finished: several rooms on the first floor need to be completed, which creates dust and an unsafe environment.
Nevertheless, 10 rooms are already in use.
10 families can stay here.
10 children are now receiving the treatment they need.
10 children have a chance of recovery, of a future.
To continue this important work and to be able to help more children in the future, financial support is desperately needed. Money to complete the rooms, to provide access to clean water, and to be able to continue paying the fixed costs.
That is why we ask for support for Rekha (photo), for all children and their families.
